How dare you call a Cockapoo a mutt! I know that’s what you are thinking.
So, is a cockapoo a mutt?
Contents and Quick Navigation
Yes, a Cockapoo is a mutt. Its a cross between two purebred parents (Cocker Spaniel and Poodle) and as a cockapoo owner you are hoping for it to inherit the characteristics of both parents.
It’s a Heinz 57, a crossbreed, it’s not a “breed” at all.
I’m a cockapoo owner if someone called my dog a mutt, then so what, that’s their issue. They are entitled to their opinion, but I know that I have an amazing dog and that’s all that matters.
The Result of Cross Breeding
Crossbreeding the Cocker Spaniel and Poodle will hopefully make a dog that’s low shedding, friendly and very smart. This makes them ideal for people who suffer from allergies. Most cockapoos are champagne, brown, white, red or black.
An Expensive Mutt and Ignore The Snobbery
I am in a few cockapoo Facebook groups and a few members have mentioned some horrible comments they have received from other dog owners. They are usually from pure breed dog owners who seem to turn up their nose at cockapoos. I am not sure what their problem is. The cockapoo is a great little dog.
Is it an expensive mutt? You bet it is! I think its probably the most expensive one out there with prices way over £1000 at the time of writing (September 2020). I have even seen some for over £2000.
Other Benefits
I could go on all day talking about the benefits of owning an “expensive mutt” as some call it, but check out these other articles that I’ve written that will cover all of those in-depth.
